Our Story

Where to begin...

We met a little over nine years ago. Yikes, our relationship is a hop and a skip away from entering middle school!  It was a few weeks into our sophomore year at North Carolina State University and we were both in our rooms being extremely studious (or at a party where our friends had abandoned us).  Nick looked very familiar and it dawned on me that he had attended the same high school.  After that ice-breaker and a little small talk it was time to leave.  I was a little ways out the door when Nick came up to me and asked for my number.  I was a little shocked and thought, "sure, why not?" (can't you tell this is one of those love at first sight stories?).  A few days later I received an invite to hang out with him at his fraternity house.  A fraternity party?  Again, why the heck not?  Upon arrival, all the guys were being extremely "studious" as they were in the middle of rushing.  Most of the night was spent chatting with Nick.  He would probably leave this part out, but the whole time he was grinning up a storm (obviously it was from all that studying.) and quite frankly, that was what got me.  His smile and amazing personality got our love story rolling.  We got to know and love one another for a while until life decided to throw us a curve-ball.  I ended up moving up to Ohio and we mutually decided to stay friends and go our separate ways.  Fast-forward four years and a lot of life events later, we went from chit-chatting occasionally to having daily conversations.  Here again is where our story will differ (and something Nick hadn't known those four years we were apart) but I had been waiting for him.  He had always been the guy to which all other guys were measured .  There was a moment when we were first dating, where we were curled up together on the couch eating Chinese take-out and I thought, "I want to do this with him for the rest of my life."  As ridiculous as that sounds that was the moment I knew he was the one.  I was so excited when our daily long-distant conversations turned into one's of flirtation.  I was ecstatic when Nick decided to fly up to Ohio for our first (second time around) real date.  I was over the moon when he told me a few short days later, as he was about to go through airport security, that he loved me.  And I have no words to describe how happy I am that all the twists and turns of life took us to this very moment.  He truly is the man of my dreams and my best friend and I cannot wait to become his wife!

I knew who Jennifer was at Grimsley High School, but our paths never really crossed. Sophomore year at State, I went to a party and she was there. I was wandering around and recognized her and we started talking. I remember being super cool and not awkward at all. Definitely left a lasting impression, love at first sight. When she was leaving with her friends I asked her for her number. She was super excited. I waited a few days and called her to hang out at the fraternity house. I remembering being super cool and not awkward at all. She was very impressed and so we went on several more dates, which in those days pretty much meant just hanging out and playing Beetle Adventure Racing on N64. We also listened to T.I. and Justin Timberlake a lot. We became a couple and dated most of sophomore year. She moved back to Ohio for several years but we stayed in touch. We reconnected a few years ago and I went up to visit her in order to try White Castle (good) and Skyline Chili (not good). I also really liked her. It was tons of fun and we visited each other off and on and became a couple again. This time it was long distance, but things were great. She moved back down to NC in order to be with me. We lived together for a couple of years and bought a house together way out in Holly Springs. Our relationship has been awesome. She puts up with my video games and rap music and I try my best to make her the happiest woman on earth. After a few years of dating, everyone kept asking me when I was going to get engaged. Jennifer made sure to drop as many hints as possible that getting engaged would be good. It got to the point where I was pretty much just handed the garter at weddings we went to. Anyway, I got a ring, waited a few months and decided to surprise her around Christmas time.
